Note: Particularly as far as plot lines are concerned, not all of the material mentioned here falls into the category of "classic" Western stories and/or writers. All of these authors and movies do, however, topicalize the (South)West in some way or other; be it by employing Western settings, history, or characters germane to the region.

Further, a single look at these lists is enough to see that this page is still very much a work in progress – it's not anywhere near the point I hope it will eventually reach one day.
